Greg's Birthday

Here we go on Greg's birthday. Now we are going to remember exactly what we did because it is written down. :)

On Friday, Greg's parents took us out for a birthday dinner to Ruth's Chris. It is a great restaurant down in Salt Lake. They are known for their steak and it was by far the best I have ever eaten. I could actually taste the meat; fantastic!

Greg's birthday was on Mother's Day so we made Saturday his Birthday Activity Day. I didn't tell Greg what we were doing for his birthday so all week he was going crazy trying to figure out what I was planning. Mwa ha ha ha ha! It was fun.

We had a nice morning, got ready and I took him on a hike up Adam's Canyon. It wasn't too hot or chilly; just perfect. It was a beautiful day for a hike! He was sweet enough to go slow with me up the switch backs (my knee has been acting up and I'm not in great shape). Once we got into some shade and hiking up the river it was really nice. We got to the top and sat by the waterfall and had a little picnic. It was great. We had a nice hike down, stopped by his parent's house for water since we ran out on the way down, and did some shopping for his birthday dinner. We got home and took it easy the rest of the night.

On the way up to the falls!

You could get right underneath some of the falls!

The waterfall was so beautiful and the spray coming off felt great after the long hike.

On Greg's actual birthday, Sunday, I got up and I thought he was gone which was perfect, so I started decorating the kitchen. I realized that I had completely forgotten to get balloons or a Happy Birthday sign so I grabbed some white paper, cray paper, and highlighters and got started. As I was cleaning up and getting things ready I heard something downstairs so I went down and Greg was asleep on the couch! I had no clue. He woke up when I went down so I made him stay down there until I was ready.

When he came up he was really surprised. Like I said, it didn't have a sign or balloons so I wrote Happy Birthday Greg! on papers with highlighters and drew balloons on the papers and used cray paper like it was the string. He was impressed with my creativity ;). As they say, invention comes from necessity.

This was the best picture I had of the sign and "balloons."

I had all his presents wrapped and on the table. Now, how I grew up we got to open one present in the morning and the rest in the evening so that's what I was planning. However, Greg wasn't raised that way and besides he gets too excited AND since it was his birthday he got to do whatever he wanted. So he opened them early. :)

Ruler cufflinks. I found it fitting considering his profession.

The cufflinks, pocket-square, tie, and tie bar I got him.
I made Greg dinner for his birthday. His request was pulled pork, coleslaw, baked beans, cornbread, and apple beer. So that's what I made him. :) He did most of the pork since he knew how but I took care of the rest. It was delicious!

It doesn't get much better than this!
After dinner we visited family and after we got home that night we had birthday cake. Greg's mom always got him an ice-cream cake so that's what we did. ;)

Greg and his delicious cake.
He had a fantastic birthday and now next year, we will remember what we did. ;)
